Waiting for the twins - Columbus Ohio maternity photographer

This beautiful family moved to Columbus, Ohio from Wilmington, North Carolina earlier this year. Mama reached out on facebook to a local mom’s group inquiring about photographers. Several mom’s recommend me, which is one of the best compliments I could ask for. So in she came for a consultation so we could chat about maternity and newborn portraits for her twin boys on the way! Ooh I love, love, love doing twin sessions. And even better is their beautiful big sister.

When the family arrived for their studio maternity session I got to meet big sissy and the first thing she said was “I’m going to have two baby brothers!” Be still my heart…She is so excited! It was so much fun including her in the maternity session. It reminded me of my own maternity session I did with my first daughter while pregnant for my second. What a very special time for this family and I am truly so lucky they found me to document this amazing journey. I can’t wait to see these boys in a few months!!!!

Here are a few of my favorites from their session.

Maternity - Columbus, Ohio Photographer

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I just love doing maternity sessions. Not only because capturing these beautiful mamas while they are carrying the most precious little lives inside them, but because it gives me an opportunity to get to know my clients before the come in as newborn clients. When I used to photograph weddings, it was the same thing with engagement sessions. I got to meet and get to know the couple before the big day.

Getting to this stunning mama and daddy to be was so much fun. Not only are they GORGEOUS, but they are just the most down to earth. I love asking about the baby, if they have names picked out, the nursery decorated etc. I get so excited with anticipation along with them. Now I'll be even more excited when they come back with their little man.

There are so many images that I love from this maternity portrait session. I don't think they could take a bad photo. I also got to use a few of my new gowns which was exciting as well. Here are just a few of my favorites...

You've probably noticed I've been posting a lot of maternity sessions lately. I would have to say next to newborns and babies, maternity is just becoming a genre I'm so passionate about. Last month I added 5 gowns to my maternity wardrobe available to clients and I'm even starting to purchase matching dresses for little girls to wear in images with their mommy's.

This session is one I'm really proud of. It was purchased by daddy as a surprise gift. He even made her hair appointment...how amazing is that? We did get off to a bit of a rocky start, because this couple was coming from about an hour away. And since we were scheduled in the evening, the traffic was horrible and they spent nearly 2.5 hours in the car. I had to also organize child care and pick up from daycare but everything managed to come together and we got this stunning mama's session completed. She came in after the stress of that car ride and rocked this mostly nude session with ease. I can't wait to meet their little one later this month!

Simple Maternity - Maternity Photographer Columbus, Ohio

When this lovely mama contacted me about doing her maternity portraits she had a very specific vision in mind. She wanted nude fine art portraits and even came with some beautiful examples. She and I hit it off immediately, and in chatting we even realized that we have many mutual friends in common! She was a little nervous about her body like any pregnant woman and some of the poses, but OMG did she just kill it or what? And I have to say, while I do have a wonderful wardrobe of maternity gowns, shooting nude maternity portraits is simply amazing to me. There is something just so organic and stunning about a woman who is carrying.

This year you will be seeing a lot of maternity sessions from Gable Photography. I have such a love and appreciation for photographing newborns and I have discovered that I am drawn to maternity portraiture the same way. And it is even better having the opportunity to meet parents before their little ones arrive. It gives us a chance to get to know each other and begin our relationship documenting such an amazing time.

Stunning Mama - Maternity Photographer Columbus Ohio

The past year I have been blessed to work with this amazing mama photographing her family as they welcomed their daughter. Little Quinn was in my milestone program and seeing her every few months was truly a pleasure. Even better, mama and I grew up together in the same neighborhood. So seeing her again after decades was just amazing. Then this fall I found out she was expecting again with a little boy and ooh, I was just so excited!!!

Earlier this month we did her maternity session. We did a combination of some fine art maternity portraits and then some more lifestyle ones with her little angel. I'm so happy with how these turned out and OMG.... can you even believe she is 37 weeks pregnant in these images!

Studio Maternity Session - Columbus Ohio Maternity Photographer

This beautiful mama to be called me inquiring about a maternity session. I was technically booked, but I just have the hardest time turning anybody away, especially maternity and newborn clients. So we squeezed in a mini maternity session at the studio and OMG, she was amazing! I can't even decide which I like best. She showed up with her hair and makeup done and we provided the outfits. Many people don't know that we have many wonderful items for all of our maternity mamas to use.

German Village Baby Bump - Maternity photography Columbus, Ohio

When this lovely couple contacted me about doing maternity photos, I knew the perfect spot. One of my favorite places in German Village. Ooh it was just the most amazing evening and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Mama was 38 weeks pregnant and walked in the summer heat from downtown to this quaint little hidden gem. And a little over a week later they welcomed their precious baby girl. I'll be posting teasers of that little beauty in the next few days, but for now here are a few of my favorites from their maternity session.
